How You Can Begin Training Your Puppy the Right Way
By Justin Robbins

Congratulations! You just bought a new puppy! You are excited! You have brought your new puppy home and you are ready to treat it like a valued member of your family. So now what? Well, you need to start training your new puppy! Of course, this is easier said then done. With this article though, I am hoping to give you a few tips that you can keep in mind.

First off, I must say, in some ways it is easier to train a puppy then it is to train an adult dog. One of the reasons is that a puppy has no history. It's not troubled by past training techniques, doesn't necessarily have bad experiences, etc.

However, it can also be more difficult to train a puppy. Puppies have a short attention span and will want to explore their new environment. Because of this, it's wise to keep the training sessions short. Also, make sure to end the training sessions on a positive note!

It is important to give your puppy plenty of time to interact with other dogs. What this does is give your puppy time to learn to socialize with other dogs. If the puppy doesn't know how to interact with other days, later they may be aggressive with them. I’m sure you don’t want a dog that goes around attacking other dogs. That wouldn’t be very friendly. ;)

Another thing you want to do is introduce your puppy to new locations and experiences. Puppies are very curious and it's good to get your puppy familiar with many different settings. In addition, you can also use this opportunity as a test to see how your puppy training is going. Is your dog being obedient? Does your dog sit when you tell him to? What about if something catches his attention? Will he still listen to you?

Finally, I recommend taking your puppy to the pet store. Most pet stores will allow you to bring your pets in. Although just to make sure, you may want to call your pet store and ask them this. Taking your puppy to the pet store is a great way for your puppy to get used to new sights, sounds, and smells. In addition, you may just see a toy you can reward your puppy with if everything goes well at the pet store.

Hopefully these tips have helped you a bit in training your dog. Good luck with it! If you are looking for a full dog training guide, I recommend you check out Secrets To Dog Training at the top of this website.

Have fun!
